SU MakerSpace is a collaborative space to imagine, design, build, tinker, modify, hack, teach, and learn.
MakerSpace, and the Makers who populate them, come from all variety of backgrounds including: Art, Architecture, Computer Science, Design, Engineering, Illustration, Photography. Programming, Textiles, and much more. MakerSpaces typically offer access to equipment like 3D-Printers, Printed Circuit Board Fabrication, Laser Cutters, and a wide range of general & discipline specific Hand Tools to members of the Space. From this model comes the Syracuse University MakerSpace.
The MakerSpace is located in the Kimmel Computer Lab on Syracuse University’s campus. This is a space for individuals from all parts of the campus community to collaborate and make their ideas become a reality. The MakerSpace houses a multitude of 3D printers, textile machines, milling equipment, soldering, a laser engraver, and more. Students, Faculty, and Staff are all encouraged to get involved in the SU MakerSpace and Making in general. The SU MakerSpace encourages students, faculty, and staff to utilize the space for teaching and collaborative educational projects. Due to increased demand, the following policies are being implemented. New job requests will only be accepted up to an hour before the MakerSpace closes. We may also have to limit the number of concurrent jobs based on available staffing. Also, we’ll be unable to facilitate tours or host classes during the last three weeks of the semester.
